Chinese divers finish one-two in men's 3m springboard

BEIJING, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Olympic and World Cup champion He Cong of China won the men's 3m springboard, leading his teammate Qin Kai for a 1-2 finish at the Beijing stop of the 2012 FINA Diving World Series here on Friday.

With a game-high 99.45 points of the last dive, He Chong clinched the gold on 548.70 points, stunning the spectators with flawless performances.

"It's great coming back to my familiar place, I'm good with the result," He said.

The 2012 FINA World Cup runner-up Qin Kai surged to the second from third through the last two dives on 509.55.

"That's not my best form, for being a little bit exausted in recent games," said Qin.

The bronze medal went to Mexican Julian Sanchez, who didn't start well in the first round, ranking the last among the six finalists, came from behind with his later stable performances.

The Diving World Series features four stops, namely Dubai, Beijing, Moscow and Tijuana. The two-day Beijing stop ran from 23th to 24th, enjoyed a total premium of 96 thousands dollars.
