17 Yemeni soldiers killed in clashes with al-Qaida in central province

SANAA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 Yemeni soldiers were killed in clashes with al-Qaida militants on Tuesday morning in the country's central province of Marib, an official of the interior ministry said.

"Until now, 17 soldiers are confirmed dead after raids by al- Qaida militants on their barracks in al-Dhubaiby area in Marib," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity, one day after the terrorist group killed at least 60 soldiers in battles in the southern province of Abyan.
