6.4 magnitude aftershock hits Aceh, Indonesia

JAKARTA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- An aftershock measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked Aceh province in the northern tip of Sumatra island of Indonesia on Sunday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.

The aftershock struck at 12:57 p.m. Jakarta time (0557 GMT) with an epicenter at 641 km Simeuleu islands of the province and with the depth at 121 km under the seabed, an official of the agency told Xinhua. The official said that the shakes of the quake were not felt on shores. A shallow strong quake with a magnitude of 8.5 struck off Aceh province and nearby provinces last week, killing ten people and dagamed buildings. The quake only triggered a minor tsunami.
