Honda recalls 50,000 Civic cars on drive shaft concern

06-14-2012 09:08 BJT

CHICAGO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Honda Motor Co. on Wednesday announced that it will recall approximately 50,000 2012-model-year Civic passenger cars in the U.S. on the concern over the potential drive shaft problem.

Honda said the driver's side drive shaft in some Civic cars might not have been properly assembled, which could lead to engine no longer propelling the vehicle in any gear and increase the risk of a crash or personal injury.

However, no crashes or injuries have been reported related to the issue so far.

The Japanese automaker said that the mailed notification of the recall will begin in late June.

Honda's Civic remains one of the best-selling cars in the U.S. with a ranking only secondary to Toyota's Camry in May.
