Italy beats England 4-2 on penalties, through to Euro 2012 semis

KIEV, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Italy beat England 4-2 on penalties and roared into the Euro 2012 semifinals here on Sunday night.

The two made the first 0-0 of the tournament and the extra time also ended in 0-0.

In the penalty shootouts, Italy's Riccardo Montolivo shot wide in the second round, but England's Ashley Young and Ashley Cole missed later to gift Italy the hard-fought win.
