KHARTOUM, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and South Sudan have agreed on a negotiation framework for their outstanding issues in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, Khartoum's Al-Sahafa daily reported Saturday.

"Sudan and South Sudan have reached an agreement on a general negotiation framework concerning their outstanding issues after two meetings without the involvement of the African Union High- Level Implementation Panel on Sudan," the paper said.

"The two sides have discussed, in a meeting that lasted for four hours, joint papers and reached specific strategies to resume negotiations over all the outstanding issues between the two countries," added the paper.

It further noted that the framework includes opening the negotiation with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)'s northern sector.

The two sides have also agreed to sign all the agreements as one package after reaching a final agreement, according to the paper.

Meanwhile, press reports indicated that the current round of negotiations between the two sides are expected to witness a breakthrough in all the files of difference.

The current round of negotiations between the two countries in Addis Ababa have been postponed to July 12 at the request of South Sudan's negotiating delegation to allow the delegation members to participate in the first anniversary of South Sudan's independence.

Sudan and South Sudan have been negotiating in Addis Ababa under the African Union mediation over many outstanding issues, including oil, border demarcation and the affiliation of the disputed oil-rich area of Abyei.
