ANKARA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- One soldier of Turkish security forces was killed and three others wounded in clashes between members of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) and government troops in southeastern Turkey on Sunday, private Dogan news agency reported.

The clashes erupted during the operation staged by security forces against a group of PKK members who cut the road between Ruzgarli ve Baglar villages in Semdinli town of Hakkari province five days ago, said the report.

On Tuesday, 15 PKK members were killed in clashes with security forces after the PKK cut the road between the two villages in this region.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, took up arms in 1984 in an attempt to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey. Since then over 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts involving the group.
