MOGYOROD, Hungary, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Britain's Lewis Hamilton won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday with a dominant performance from the front at the Hungaroring track outside Budapest.

Starting from pole for the third time this season, the McLaren driver led all the way on day of 30-plus temperatures. He finished in 1:41.05, just over a second ahead of Finland's Kimi Raikkonen (1:41.06) and over 10 seconds ahead of the Finn's Lotus teammate Romain Grosjean (1:41.16) of France in third. Raikkonen's second place was his fifth podium finish of the season although he has yet to win a Grand Prix.

The win was Hamilton's second of the season after his triumph in Canada in June and moves him one place up the Drivers' Championship table above Raikkonen to fourth with 117 points. It also closes the gap on the top three, Fernando Alonso (154 points), Mark Webber (124), and reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel (122).

Ferrari's Alonso started from sixth in the grid and could only manage a fifth place finish, while on a disappointing day for the Red Bull Racing team, Vettel slipped to fourth place at the end from third place on the grid while Webber moved up to eighth from his 11th place starting position.

Former world champion Michael Schumacher's Mercedes stalled at the off forcing a restart. The German suffered from technical problems throughout the race and retired his car on the 58th lap.

The Formula 1 season now heads into a month-long break before restarting with the Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th of 20 Grand Prix on September 2.
