Iran lifter won gold in men's over 105kg

LONDON, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Iranian lifter Behdad Salimikordasiabi won the gold medal by lifting a total of 455kg in the men's over 105kg category, the largest among all men's weightlifting divisions, at London Olympics on Tuesday.

In the snatch session, both Salimikordasiabi and Russion lifter Ruslan Albegov picked up the weight of 208kg. The Russian ranked higher at halfmark thanks to less bodyweight.

In clean-and-jerk, the Iranian proved himself the strongest man in the game by jerking 247kg in his first attempt. The Russian only succeeded in his first jerk attempt of 240kg, totalling 448kg and settling for the bronze medal.

Salimikordasiabi's teammate Sajjad Anoushiravani Hamlabad bagged the silver medal with 204kg in snatch, 245kg in clean-and-jerk, and 449kg in total.
