Personal Description

Wang Guan is the first Chinese TV reporter to become the White House correspondent. He covers U.S. presidential politics, congressional activities and the State Department. Recently he went on campaign trail, covering 2012 U.S. Presidential Elections. Reporting across the U.S., he investigated issues from illegal immigration and health care to foreign policy under Obama administration and U.S. military "re-pivot" to Asia.

Prior to relocation to D.C., Wang Guan was the Chief Correspondent of CCTV News based in Beijing. He covered 2008 Olympics, Shanghai World Expo, and NPC, China's top legislature. In 5 years, he travelled to 28 of China's 34 provinces, mostly underdeveloped regions to cover breaking stories, and to probe issues that concern China's "99%"--from natural disasters and corruption, to a fundamental deficit of rule of law.

In 2010, Wang Guan spent a month in Tibet and world's 3rd largest no-man's land of Hoh-Xil, examining the merits of conflicting accounts by China and the West regarding Tibet. In light of Bin Laden's death, he travelled deep inside Pakistan to examine the dynamics of Taliban, religious extremism and U.S. War on Terror since 9-11. He also back-packed to North Korea for a week after the country's 2nd nuclear test, blogging live out of Pyongyang.

Wang Guan was the first prize winner of 2006 China National English Public Speaking Championship.
