Number of Syrian refugees in Turkey reaches 61,450

ANKARA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- There are currently 61,450 Syrian refugees in Turkey fleeing clashes in their country, official figures from the Turkish side showed Wednesday.

According to the Turkish Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), Syrian refugees are mostly living in Turkey's southern provinces of Hatay, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep and Kilis.

The refugees have been provided with lodging, food, health services, security, social activities, education, religious services, translation services and communications, the AFAD said in a statement.

So far, a total of 92,855 Syrians had entered Turkey and 31,405 returned to their country on their own will, the AFAD said, adding that 521 Syrians are receiving medical treatment in various Turkish hospitals.
