BAGHDAD, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and 39 others injured Thursday in two separate car bomb attacks in and near Iraq's capital city of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said.

The deadliest attack occurred when a booby-trapped car exploded near a government real estate office in Baghdad's northern district of Husseiniyah, killing six people and wounding 32 others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Iraqi security forces sealed off the scene, as ambulances and police and civilian vehicles evacuated the victims to several hospitals and medical centers in Baghdad, the source said.

In Taji area, some 20 km north of Baghdad, seven people were wounded by a car bomb explosion, the source added.

Violence is still common in Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease since its peak in 2006 and 2007 when the country was engulfed in sectarian killings.
