Bangui, the gorilla: New king of the swingers

08-20-2012 10:01 BJT

Bangui, a two-year-old gorilla at La Palmyre Zoo in Les Mathes, France, was photographed dancing on top of a pole in front of his appreciative audience.

A young gorilla called Bangui gets into the groove on top of a
pole in front of his appreciative audience.

The photographer said:" This young male is just experimenting with chest beating, the typical display of silverbacks. But instead of his chest, he beats his inner thighs, which is also a game for him. It looks like a dance but it’s a game and a way to attract attention."

The young gorilla is so involved in his own dancing that we certainly can say he's a pretender to the throne as he enthusiastically "throws shapes" while standing at the very top of a pole.

The young gorilla shows of his moves, which are actually a way of gaining attention.
