RASON, DPRK, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The second Rason International Trade Fair debuted here on Monday, aiming to attract more foreign investment into this country.

The event, which is being held in the Rason Economic Trade Zone on the most northeastern coast of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and will last until Thursday, has allured 110 companies from different countries and regions including the DPRK itself, China, Russia, France, Switzerland and Australia.

Hwang Yong Nam, a local economic official said the DPRK government protects foreigners' investment, legitimate income and rights under laws and regulations, and is providing preferential policies in a bid to attract more foreign investments.

Ho Yong Ho, chief of the Rason Exhibition Corporation, told Xinhua that the fair will be conducive to DPRK-China economic cooperation.

Machine tools, electric and electronic appliances, vehicles, petrochemical goods, medicines and foodstuffs are among the products at the fair, which also includes investment-related explanation sessions, consultations and participants' visit to industrial establishments in the zone.

The Rason zone, established in 1991, is adjacent to Yanbian Prefecture in northeast China's Jilin province and Russia's southeastern region of Primorsky Krai. Rason was separated from provincial administration and became a special city in 2010.
