Pakistan, India qualify for Asia Cup Kabaddi Tournament final

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan and India on Sunday night qualified for the final of the second Asia Cup Kabaddi Tournament being held in Pakistan' s eastern city of Lahore, officials said.

In the first semifinal match at the Punjab Sports Stadium, Pakistan thrashed Sri Lankan team 46-26 while India defeated a stronger side of Iran 53-35 in the other semifinal.

Two neighbors and sports arch-rival, Pakistan and India, will compete on Monday night to win the final of the mega event.

Pakistani team' s captain Musharraf Javed claimed to dominate Indian team in the final to lift the trophy.

"No doubt Indian side is very strong but we have also worked hard and we are mentally and physically prepared for this important contest," said Javed, while talking to local media.

Six teams participated in the tournament and four top teams, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Iran, qualified for the semifinals.

The losers of the semifinals, Sri Lanka and Iran, will play for the third position on Monday evening before the Pakistan-India final game.

In another match on Sunday night, Afghanistanteam won its match against Nepal by a score of 53-32 and finished fifth.

Organizers has allocated a cash prize of Rs1.5 million (15,790 U.S. dollars) for the winner while the runners-up of the final and third position holders will be awarded with the cash prizes amounting to 10,526 dollars and 5,263 dollars respectively.
