SHIJIAZHUANG, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers continued their search on Monday for a Japanese tourist who has gone missing on a snow-covered mountain in north China's Hebei province.

Tour guide Ming Pingming told rescuers that he was with the tourist, who came to visit Hengling Mountain with three other Japanese tourists, when they were trapped by a snowstorm over the weekend on the mountain.

Ming said he had stayed together with the 76-year-old Japanese man on Sunday morning, who could not walk and lost his pulse around 10 a.m.. After that Ming tried to walk out of the mountain and was later saved by rescuers.

Local police said two of the other Japanese tourists, two women aged 62 and 68, respectively, have been confirmed dead.

Another tourist, a 59-year-old woman, was rescued and is being treated along with Ming at a small clinic in the village of Hengling.

Ming said he was accompanying the four tourists as they climbed from the Beijing side of the mountain Saturday morning in order to visit a section of the Great Wall.

Rescuers are having a hard time sending the woman and the tourist guide to the county seat of Huailai. Some of the area's roads remain blocked by ice and snow.

Beijing and Hebei were hit by a blizzard over the weekend that brought record amounts of precipitation, according to the Beijing Meteorological Center.

More than 150 people have been sent to search for the missing tourist.
