CAIRO, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said Monday that his country is ready to shoulder the responsibility of Africa's security and stability.

Amr made the pledge when meeting with the special representatives for the Secretary General of the United Nations ( UN) and the peace envoys of the African Union (AU).

During the events of the high-level forum held in Egypt for the third time consecutively, Amr noted Egypt's stress on the importance of African security and stability, referring to Cairo's aspiration to host the AU's Reconstruction Center once it is established.

"Egypt is keen on hosting this forum yearly, pursuing the reinforcement of the international solidarity with Africa, and finding new UN-AU cooperation pivots," Amr said.

He reiterated that the forum this year came synchronizing with the new peace and security challenges in Africa, and also with the AU's tenth birthday, therefore it is a good opportunity to value the AU's achievements in the past decade.

"Many challenges are facing our continent today to bring about peace, security, stability, and development, so we need all possible efforts to reach African solutions to these problems, backed by the international community," he said.
