RAMALLAH, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Experts from Switzerland on Monday examined the grave of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafatin the West Bank city of Ramallah before taking samples of his remains, a senior Palestinian official said.

Tawfiq Tirawi, chief of the Palestinian committee to probe Arafat's death, revealed to Xinhua that a Swiss delegation examined Arafat's grave at al-Muqataa in Ramallah before opening it and taking samples of his remains.

Swiss and French experts will open the grave and take the samples for examination on Nov. 27, according to Tirawi and a senior Palestinian official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Swiss experts arrived in Ramallah Monday morning and left in the afternoon, said Tirawi.

"The Palestinian committee to probe Arafat's death will join the Swiss and French experts in their investigations," Tirawi said, adding that "there are still debates and consultations on the issue."

He said the Palestinian committee will at the end receive a full report from the two European delegations after they examine the basic reason behind the death of Arafat.

"The samples of Arafat's bones will be taken to be examined in Switzerland because the Palestinians don't have similar equipment for testing the samples," said Tirawi.

The Palestinians accused Israelof being behind the death of Arafat, who died of a mysterious disease in a hospital in Paris in November 2004.
