Mourinho fails to clear up doubts in press conference

MADRID, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho this Monday gave a press conference that did little to dispel rumors that he is unhappy with the club.

Following Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Betis on Saturday night Mourinho criticized his players, questioning their will to work hard and also the club, saying nobody spoke out over issues such as the fixture calendar or refereeing errors except him.

This Monday sports paper Diario AS published a story saying Mourinho had stopped work on planning for next summer's pre-season given that he was considering leaving Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign.

When asked about the story, Mourinho asked the journalist if he wanted to be called a liar, adding. "I will not allow for you to say I am not a good professional, because I will not accept it."

He assured that he had a good relationship with club president, Florentino Perez as well as his former employers such as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, while dropping a hint that he didn't need to wait until the end of a season before leaving a club.

"I left Chelsea half through the season and I have a very good personal relationship with Abramovich. I don't understand questions about my relationship with the club. It is the same as it has always been and my relation with the players is as it has always been too," said Mourinho, who admitted that the fact his side are now 11 points behind FC Barcelona was not helping.

"When you win things are much better than when you lose, that is normal," he said.

"The club is in charge and I am only an employee and they are the ones who have to decide whether or not they are happy with me. Maybe at the end of the season they are not going to be happy with my work and think there are things that have to be changed. I am here now and I give my best and it is worth waiting until the end of the season before making evaluations," he added.

Real Madrid will play Alcoyano in the return leg of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night and have a comfortable lead from the first leg. Mourinho said four B-team players would be in the side, but he warned his team would have to work hard, despite the 4-1 lead from the first leg.

"It will be cold and the fans need something to justify them coming out on a cold night," he said.
