SAO PAULO, Apr. 1 (Xinhua) -- Construction work at Brazil's Itaquerao World Cup stadium is likely to resume on Monday (April 7) following the death of a third worker at the venue, a government official said Tuesday.

The stadium's redevelopment was suspended Saturday after a 23-year-old worker fell eight meters to his death while installing temporary seats.

Builder Odebrecht and subcontractor Fast Engenharia have been ordered to implement new safety measures before work continues, according to Sao Paulo state's workplace ministry.

Among the requirements are a risk analysis report, an emergency plan, training for workers operating at heights, medical testing and a collective workers' protection plan.

Government spokesperson Noe Dias de Azevedo said no inspections had been made of the temporary stands erected by Fast Engenharia before the worker's death.

"The company didn't have any collective protection required by law," Azevedo said. "In the visit that I made after the accident I saw that there was no safety. Nobody was using any of the necessary equipment, not even the boss."

Both Odebrecht and Fast Engenharia have denied any wrongdoing, insisting all safety requirements were met.

Saturday's incident came four months after two workers died at the stadium when a crane collapsed.

Seven construction workers have died at Brazil's 12 World Cup stadiums.

The Itaquerao will host six World Cup matches, including the tournament opener between Brazil and Croatia on June 12.
