France keep hopes alive in Davis Cup quarter-final

04-06-2014 07:50 BJT

France have kept their last eight clash with Germany alive to narrow their lead to 2-1 in the quarter finals, with Michael Llodra and Julien Benneteau beating rookie pair Tobias Kamke and Andre Begemann on Saturday.

Germany had moved 2-0 ahead on Friday with surprise wins. But the French hit back with a four sets win on Saturday.

Benneteau and Llodra swept through the first set, but found the going tougher in the second, taking it on a tie break.

Kamke and Begemann threatened to get back into things in the third, taking it 6-4, but the French duo held their nerve to set up an intriguing third day.
