Su: The theme of this year’s Boao forum is Asia’s New Future: Identifying New Growth Drivers. Why that theme? And how will Asia identify new drivers for growth?

"Asia is becoming more and more important in terms of the world economy... so what kind of work the Asian countries can do in terms of their cooperation." Zhou said.

Su: What role do you think China plays in promoting the development and cooperation of Asian and emerging economies?

"China is a contributer to the setting of new rules...I hope China will contribute more to that." Zhou said.

Su: China itself has made great strides in economic reform. It’s now transforming from an investment-led economy into a consumption-driven one. And there’s the new free trade experimental zone in its financial hub of Shanghai. What’s your assessment of these changes? What challenges and opportunities lie ahead?

"China is getting more and more open to the world...China’s trade relations with other countries, particularly countries in the West, such as the United States." Zhou said.

Su: Tell us the highlights of this year’s forum and the issues that will top the agenda.

"The theme will be pursued in three categories... and sustainable development." Zhou said.

Su: What measures would you advise for Asian countries to better cooperate in balancing economic growth and environmental protection?

"Green development has become the future of Asian countries as well as the whole world....We will try to figure out what kind of reform the US and Russian and other economies." Zhou said.

Su: We noticed this year’s schedule includes two sessions for Russian business leaders and a Russia-China cocktail hour. What does that arrangement mean?

"Russia is our neighbour. There will be a dialogue between the entrepreneurs of China and Russia in the area of energy." Zhou said.

Su: And how can China and Russia innovate in their economic and energy cooperation?

"As a result of President Xi Jinping’s previous visit to Russia....This will become a reality in a couple of years time." Zhou said.
