The Bluefin-21 has so far covered 90 square kilometers of the sea bed off the west Australian coast. The data collected has so far not yielded any useful information.

Malaysian acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said Thursday afternoon that the most advanced technology would be used to comb the seabed, and that the local search would be enhanced.

A total of 12 planes and 11 ships took part in Thursday’s search. The search is expected to cover a 4-thousand square-kilometer patch of sea, about 2,200 kilometers northwest of Perth.
