Xi stresses stability while inspecting troops

President Xi Jinping has said long-term stability in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is vital to the whole country’s stability and national security. He stressed that combating terrorism and violence are important in the region. Xi made the remarks during his visits to the military troops in the region.

In the rain, President Xi inspected the Xinjiang Military Command. He reviewed troops undergoing anti-terrorism combat training. He said in a meeting with military leaders that the long-term stability of Xinjiang is vital to the whole country’s reform, development and stability.

He also said the stability is also very important to national unity, ethnic solidarity and national security. He added that safeguarding the country’s unity and fighting separatism are in the public interests of all ethnic groups in the region.

In terms of fighting terrorism, he said China will deploy a strike-first strategy against terrorists in Xinjiang.

Xi also stressed the safety and stability of the troops themselves. He urged military leaders to care about soldiers lives especially those living 3,000 meters or more above sea level.

During a visit to Kashgar, Xi inspected the living conditions of the soldiers and listened to their reports on combating violence and terrorist activities.

In the city, Xi also had a meeting with military leaders there. Xi said that troop-building in Xinjiang to improve combat capabilities will provide strong support for Xinjiang’s social stability. Xi stressed that stability in southern Xinjiang is vital to the stability of the whole Xinjiang, Northwest China and the whole nation.
