The Joint Agency Coordination Center releasing a statement on Thursday, says the search area by the autonomous underwater vehicle Bluefin-21 can now be discounted as the final resting place of missing Malaysia Flight MH370.

It says Bluefin-21 had completed its last mission searching in the vicinity of the acoustic signals detected in April. Those four pings were detected by the Towed Pinger Locator deployed from Australian naval ship Ocean Shield, and were thought to come from the "black box" of MH370. So far, Bluefin-21 has searched over 850 square kilometers of the ocean floor. Ocean Shield departed the search area Wednesday night and is expected to return to their home port of Fleet Base West on Saturday.

Earlier, CNN quoted a US Naval official as saying that there was now broad agreement that the signals had came from some other man- made source unrelated to the jet which disappeared on March 8 carrying 239 people.
