China, UN to hold conference on cyber security

China and the United Nations will hold the International Conference on Information and Communications Security in Beijing later this week, to bring greater focus on constructing a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative online environment.

"China and the United Nations will jointly organize an international conference for the first time on network security. This is an initiative that China has taken to promote global cyber-security. We hope the meeting will help promote the exchange of national policies on cyber security issues, strengthen mutual trust and promote the development of international rules governing cyberspace." Chinese Ministry Of Foreign Affairs spokesman Hong Lei said.
