Chinese President Xi Jinping has delivered a key note speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Sixth Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Xi has proposed to carry forward the Silk Road Spirit and deepen China-Arab States Cooperation. Xi said in order to promote the spirit of the Silk Road, the two sides need to encourage mutual understanding, respect each other’s choice of development path, pursue win-win cooperation and advocate dialogue and peace.

He also announced the trade targets with the Arab States in the coming five years. He said China will import over 10 trillion US dollars of goods, and make more than 500 billion US dollars of direct investment. China’s imports in 2013 was only about 7 percent of the 2 trillion US dollars of goods, China will import annually. China's investment in 2013 was a mere 2.2 percent of the 100 billion US dollars, China will invest annually.

Xi also proposed the principles to build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

"One Belt and One Road are paths leading to mutual benefits and win-win progress. It will make economies more closely integrated, promote infrastructure construction and institutional and systematic innovation, create new growth areas for economy and employment, and strengthen the economies’ internal driving force and resilience against risks. China and Arab states became close friends because of the Silk Road and we are natural cooperation partners for jointly building the One Belt and One Road," he said.
