Chinese President Xi Jinping has delivered a key note speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Sixth Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Xi has proposed to carry forward the Silk Road Spirit and deepen China-Arab States Cooperation. He also announced China’s trade and investment goals with the Arab states and the proposed principles in building "One Belt and One Road".

Promoting the Silk Road spirit. That was the key message of President Xi’s speech.

"For centuries, the silk road spirit - peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual understanding and mutual benefits - have been passed from generation to generation." Xi said.

Xi said in order to promote this spirit, the two sides need to encourage mutual understanding, and respect each other’s choice of development path. He also proposed to pursue win-win cooperation and advocate dialogue and peace. He said China will import over 10 trillion US dollars of goods and make more than 500 billion US dollars of direct investment in the coming 5 years.

"In 2013, China’s imports from Arab countries reached 140 billion US dollars, only about 7 percent of the 2 trillion US dollars of goods China will import annually. China’s direct investment to Arab countries last year stood at 2.2 billion US dollars, a mere 2.2 percent of the 100 billion US dollars China will invest each year." Xi said.

He also proposed basic principles for building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

"One Belt and One Road are paths leading to mutual benefits and win-win progress. It will make economies more closely integrated, promote infrastructure construction and institutional and systematic innovation, create new growth areas for economy and employment, and strengthen the economies’ internal driving force and resilience against risks." Xi said.

Xi said over the next three years, China will train another 6,000 personnel for Arab states and share with them China’s experience in development and poverty reduction.
