China says it is willing to work with Vietnam to promote bilateral ties even as relations between both countries have hit roadbumps. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, made these remarks in a press briefing.

She also stressed that China has vowed to take all necessary actions to safeguard its sovereignty and maritime interests.

"State Councillor Yang Jiechi has fully elaborated China’s stance. He said China attaches importance to its relations with Vietnam and puts it at a strategic level and long-term perspective. China is willing to work with Vietnam to push forward the healthy and steady development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Vietnam," she said.
