Lionel Messi once again saved Argentina, he didn't score this time, but the four-time World Footballer of the Year was instrumental in setting up Angel Di Maria's winner deep into extra time, as they knocked out Switzerland to make the Quarter-Finals. Not for the fist time in this tournament Messi's team were patchy, but they won again.

Having scored four goals, Messi kept searching for a route to a fifth to try to break the deadlock. The Barcelona man went close in normal time, as Argentina dominated play, but failed to score as the ninety minutes was goalless.

Xherdan Shaqiri, with a hat-trick in his previous match, provided most of the threats on the Swiss side. The match was heading for penalties, but with two minutes left, Messi picked-up the ball and ran at the stubborn swiss defence and set up Di Maria's chance.

The Real Madrid man firing low into the corner to grab a victory for the South Americans. In injury time Switzerland had chances, Blerim Dzemaili hit the post but their luck was out, they were heading out as Argentina make it through.
