Argentina operating imported trains from China

07-23-2014 00:13 BJT

More Chinese commuter trains are running in Argentina. The first group of Chinese inter-city commuter trains was officially put into service in Buenos Aires on Monday, marking the first time that Argentina has operated Chinese commuter trains in its transportation system.

Eight blue and white Chinese trains are being used on a 38-kilometers long line that connects the city center and surrounding areas. The trains can run at 100 kilometers per hour, making them the fastest in Argentina.

China shipped 25 commuter trains to Argentina in February. China will deliver more trains to the country next summer in a deal valued at nearly one billion U.S. dollars.
