Helen Mirren won her first Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' 2006 film "The Queen." She then reprised the role in the acclaimed 2013 West End production "The Audience." Now, she'll be bringing Queen Elizabeth II to Broadway.

Oscar winner Helen Mirren is bringing back her iconic character The Queen to Broadway for the very last time. She will star in "The Audience" written by Peter Morgan.

Mirren has appeared in Broadway before, so she is well-aware of the hard work she has coming up ahead. She's been here twice before with "Dance of Death" and "A Month in the County," both of which earned her Tony nominations.

"Well I have to do it, I'd prefer not to quite honestly. I don't like revisiting stuff like that but because it was so successful in London and it hasn't been seen in America," Helen Mirren said.

"Many people would love it to be seen in America, not in the least the director and the writer and so on and so forth and the Americans, possibly the American audience. We'll see. So I feel sort of duty-bound really to fulfill that but once I've done that, that's it, that's the end of that story for me. That's it, really, enough."

After playing 'The Queen' for so many years, Mirren was asked what it was like to actually meet Queen Elizabeth II in person. She admits she was thrilled to come face to face with Her Majesty in person, except for the Queenitis she suddenly developed.

"I still can't remember. I have no idea because it really when you meet the Queen everything goes out of your head. You just stand there going, 'Oh my God it's the queen. It's the Queen, oh my God. What do I do? What do I say? How could I look not normal and natural'? And of course you look completely unnormal and completely unnatural," Helen Mirren said.

"The Audience" will play a limited run on Broadway next spring. Helen Mirren will begin rehearsals in mid-January, with previews starting in February for a March opening. But no theater or dates have been officially announced yet.
