Comic fans have been flocking to San Diego for the 45th annual Comic-Con pop culture extravaganza. But the fans are getting to see more than just their favorite comic book heroes. Oscar winner Colin Firth and Channing Tatum have also been there to promote their latest films.

Colin Firth has completed his first action movie at the age of 53, and he's ready for more. The British actor stars in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" as a gentleman spy with plenty of high-tech gadgetry.

Firth says a training team of ten people helped him overcome a "painful" first month.

"I committed. So I decided to go for whatever I was being asked to do. I was very out of my depth. The first month was painful. But it was Jackie Chan's training team. I had people -- gold medalists in the Olympics and world champion Thai boxers, the coach of the British tae kwon doe team. These people were there to help me. So I basically just gave myself to it. I found it thrilling by the end," Colin Firth said.

Samuel L. Jackson, who plays a villain in the film, speaks highly of his co-star.

"It's truly amazing. Colin is a very accomplished actor. And acting involves a lot of different things. Sometimes they want you to be funny. Sometimes they want you to be a bad guy. But we've never seen him be this guy. But because of his ability, he immersed himself in the training. You can see that it's him doing it, because (director) Matthew (Vaughn) wanted him to do it. And it's a pretty amazing piece of work. Hopefully he'll get some different kinds of work out of that," Samuel L. Jackson said.

Channing Tatum is also at Comic-Con in San Diego to promote his voice role in "Book of Life." Tatum's film "Foxcatcher", in which he plays an Olympic wrestler, has premiered at Cannes to great acclaim.

But the actor says he may work on more films like "Book of Life" to please his daughter Everly. Tatum adds that his daughter isn't watching any of his movies yet -- and he's not looking forward to showing them all off.

"Yeah, I have a kid, 14 months, and she's not watching anything at the moment. She's just figured out that she can run. So for her to pay attention to anything more than 12 seconds is a record. I hope that she gets to see some of this stuff one day. She's probably going to have to see 'Magic Mike' one day and I'm going to have to explain that to her. So that's going to be a little harder to explain," Channing Tatum said.

"Book of Life" is set for release in October and "Foxcatcher" is set for release in November.
