British actor Jude Law seems to have laid low for a little while. But with two films, "Spy" and "Black Sea" currently in post-production and a third one in pre-production, he's still obviously an actor in popular demand. Next, he talks about his roles in the two very different films, one spy comedy, and one dark thriller that takes place in a Russian submarine.

British actor Jude Law seems to have laid low for a little while. But with two films, "Spy" and "Black Sea" currently in post-production and a third one in pre-production, he's still obviously an actor in popular demand.

After the success of "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat", writer and director Paul Feig has chosen to work with Melissa McCarthy for the third time in"Spy", a comedy about a female secret agent. Jude Law is cast along with Jason Statham.

"Yeah, it's, it's a really exciting piece actually, and it's wonderful to be working with someone who is absolutely at the top of their game, Melissa is extraordinary talent and pulls off stuff I've never seen the like of. She can riff on an idea with such incredible eloquence and energy," Jude Law said.

Meanwhile, "Black Sea" sees Law playing the captain of a submarine given the shady job of searching the depths of the Black Sea for a sub laden with gold.

"It brought on incredible energy and incredible drama, and you realize why the sort of heightened level of intensity in those older and more recent sub-movies, is so intense. Apart from anything else, you are also always in a dangerous situation because you've got so many things that could possibly go wrong," Jude Law said.

Law says these days he's being offered roles that are a long way from the more one dimensional characters he used to play. This has much to do with his age, he adds, but he's also interested in playing different characters.

"It tends to be for male actors that the older you get, there's less emphasis on playing sort of romantic leads," Jude Law said.

"Which can often in my mind, or in my experience in the past, not always be as rich, or as nourishing a part as playing slightly more, I don't want to say just character-driven, but slightly more complicated roles. It seems to be that that's even the way, or maybe that's just where my taste is taking me. I mean I never felt like I indulged overly in playing the romantic leads. If you look back at my work in my twenties and thirties, I was in fact, I was always trying to go against it. But I just think now, listen, the truth of the matter is, you get over certain age, and you are more complicated anyway, so I guess characters written for that age are more complicated, you know."

"Black Sea" is expected to be released later this year, while "Spy" is due out next year.
