Studio interview: Obama authorizes airstrikes in Iraq

US President Barack Obama has said in a televised late-night statement from the White House that the US will launch targeted airstrikes on Islamist insurgents in Iraq if needed, to protect US interests, as the Islamic State group is advancing across Iraq.
