Differences and distrust remain between Israel and Hamas

08-13-2014 10:48 BJT

A huge divergence of opinions and distrust between the two sides still remains, despite the ongoing international meditation efforts. For views from both Hamas and Israeli officials, earlier we interviewed Hamas Spokesman Osama Hamdan, and Paul Hirschson, the Spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

"If they want demilitarization, we are ready to have both sides demilitarization. They have to give up their weapons, they have to show that they are ready to like with peace with Palestinians. They have to show that they are ready to withdraw from the occupied territories and to apply the international resolutions which is calling them to withdraw from occupied lands." Osama Hamdan, Hamas Spokesman, Said.

"If Hamas were to change its spots as it were and accept the international community’s demands that would be a different thing, but you know it doesn’t look like that’s happening right now. What is looks like right now is they’re repurposing their ideology, their radical ideology which essentially has elevated suicide to a place in society that amounts to nothing less but the worship of death. These guys are cut from the same cloth as ISIS in Syria and Iraq, Boko Haram down in Nigeria or the Shabab in Somalia wrecking havoc on Kenya. They’re no different." Paul Hirschson, Spokesman of Israeli Foreign Ministry, Said.
