At least 3 reported killed in rebel-held eastern Ukrainian town

08-13-2014 14:37 BJT

At least three people have been killed in a shelling of a market and two apartment blocks in the rebel-held eastern Ukrainian town of Yasynuvata. Shells also hit several residential blocks. Local residents have worked together with firefighters in an attempt to extinguish the flames in the market, passing buckets of water and dousing the smoldering debris.

Yasynuvata is a current frontline between Ukrainian forces and the rebels. It also holds a main railway link for those fleeing Donetsk, where the main train station has been closed due to frequent shelling. The attack came after a convoy of 280 white-painted trucks from Russia entered the Ukrainian border.
