Hubei authorities fine four BMW stores 1.63 mln yuan

Local authorities in Hubei Province have issued the first penalties against international car brands for alleged monopoly practices in China. 

The Price Bureau of Hubei Province on Wednesday fined four local BMW dealers a total of 1.6 million yuan for allegedly charging illegal fees for pre-delivery inspection service.

Authorities say that service should be free of charge. The price agency says it’s also investigating another German automaker Audi for alleged monopoly practices, and is preparing to issue penalties against the company.
