Full coverage: Ebola Outbreak in West Africa

An American doctor infected with Ebola says he is recovering in every way and hoped to be reunited with his family soon.

Kent Brantly was working for humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse in West Africa, treating Ebola patients at a Liberia hospital when he contracted the virus. Earlier this month, he was flown to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where he has been in an isolation unit for treatment.

Both Brantly and Nancy Writebol, another American who also contracted Ebola in Liberia, received an experimental treatment. Writebol is also being treated at the Emory isolation unit and is reportedly getting better.

However, a Spanish missionary that used the same experimental drug, died. Meanwhile, the WHO has approved the treatment of Ebola patients with the drug. Related drug companies are speeding up its production, but supplies are still very limited.
