A musical tribute to the late great Chinese pop diva, Teresa Teng, is about to set off on a 50 show tour of China, following widespread public acclaim in Beijing. The singer died of an asthma attack in 1995, at the age of 42. But she remains a musical icon, not just here in China, but across the whole of East Asia. The musical is called "Love You, Teresa", and it brings both the songs and the superstar back to life on stage.

A haunting melody and a familiar figure, real emotions brought to life, under the spotlight. Teresa Teng influenced generations with her folk songs and romantic ballads. She was born in Taiwan in 1953, and recorded in many languages, including her native Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Indonesian and English.

It gained her huge cross-cultural popularity. Her sudden death from a severe respiratory attack in 1995 brought grief to millions. In the musical, she's brought back from heaven, and given a special assignment. The superstar herself is played by Wang Jing.

"So many of these songs are so well known. When we start singing the most popular songs, the audiences really react to the melodies. It's really great... but at the same time, there's a lot of pressure." said Wang Jing, Actress.

Leading actor Zheng Yunlong only graduated last year, and has been in five musicals already. He plays a young musician who becomes inspired by Teresa.

"To me this is the best team anywhere, the production, the choreography and all the performers. I feel really lucky and happy." said Zheng Yunlong, Actor.

The show's run in Beijing will finish at the end of the month, it then heads out on a 50 show tour, taking it all across China.
