Officials in Nigeria and Guinea have said they are taking all precautions necessary to prevent the spread of Ebola.

Nigeria’s health commissioner, Doctor Jide Idris said on Monday four patients confirmed as having Ebola have been treated and discharged from hospital. He emphasised the importance of educating medical staff in maintaining good hygiene.

In Conakry, the capital of Guinea, no quarantine area has been set up, but a government spokesman said they were monitoring those who are believed to have been in contact with the disease.

The Ebola disease has so far killed 1,145 and sickened 2,000 people in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
