Full coverage: Malaysia Airlines Plane Bound for Beijing Goes Missing

Search efforts for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 are entering a new phase. Australian, Malaysian, and Chinese officials have held a meeting in Canberra, during which search strategies and cost-sharing issues were discussed.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss says the search area for the plane remains the same, although they are shifting the focus southward.

Australia and Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen their cooperation. The pair also signed documents relating to issues associated with the families of the plane victims.

Chinese Deputy Transport Minister He Jianzhong also attended the meeting. He reaffirmed China’s support for the search efforts. The Malaysia Airlines plane veered off course and vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8. It's believed to have crashed into the Indian Ocean, far off the west Australian coast.
