Mount Sinabung erupts in Sumatra, Indonesia

JAKARTA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Mount Sinabung volcano in North Sumatra of Indonesia erupted on Wednesday, spewing hot ashes to 2 km to southeast, official here said.

Powerful burst of hot ash and gravel erupted from the rumbling volcano in western Indonesia at 13:43 a.m. local time, but the height of the ash could not be seen as it was covered with cloud, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of national disaster management agency, told Xinhua by phone.
