Featuring more than US$1 billion worth of art, Cubism: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection will soon open at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The entire collection was donated to the museum by Estee Lauder's son, Leonard A. Lauder. The collection, which consists of 34 works by Pablo Picasso, 15 by Juan Gris and 15 by Fernand Leger, was amassed over the past 40 years, and is considered one of the foremost collections of Cubism in the world.

The museum said it is establishing a new research center for modern art, which will be supported by a US$22 million endowment funded by museum trustees and supporters, including Lauder.

Cubism: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection will open to the public on October 20.
