A three-year-old panda living in the wild was found severely injured at the Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve in Sichuan province.

The panda was found lying on the ground at a moor stone cave near a conservation station with its stomach badly injured. The injury was likely caused by several yellow-throated martens, a natural predator in the area.

The panda was rushed to veterinarians to receive treatment. It’s now recovering after getting more than 100 stitches.

Giant pandas are one of the world’s most endangered species. Only about 1,600 live in the wild, mostly in the mountains of Sichuan, while more than 300 live in captivity.
