FM: No foreign power can interfere in HK affairs

12-11-2014 17:36 BJT

China has called on British lawmakers to stop overreacting over China's refusal to allow them to visit Hong Kong. A group of British members of parliament had called the refusal an insult to Britain and called for a stronger response from their government.

"Hong Kong affairs are purely an internal affair of China," Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesman Hong Lei said.  "China firmly opposes any interference by any foreign country, organization and individual."

"I would like to re-emphasize that the Chinese central government and the government of the Hong Kong SAR have the full right to handle the issues in question in Hong Kong in accordance with the law. I hope some British lawmakers would stop their meaningless hype."
