China Insight's New Year special 30 minutes episode Fireworks broadcast at 11:30 and 17:30 on December 25th (Christmas Day) according to Beijing Time, with one further repeat at 0:30 on December 26th.
Fireworks aretruly beautiful, but their lifespans always seem to burn out all too quickly. They have been called the "gunpowder in its most elegant form", and always bring unforgettable moments of awe and excitement to all kinds of celebrations around the world.
It is said that 95% of the world’s fireworks are produced in China. The China Insight team have been in China's so-called "Firework Triangle" – Liuyang in Hunan andWanzai and Shangli in Jiangxi – to bring you the secrets behind fireworks and how they are manufactured, the risks and dangers that local workers face on a day-to-day basis as well asuncovering surprises behind how fireworks are branded and sold around the world.
