Bird flu outbreak cause over 2,300 people under observation in Taiwan

Taiwan is suffering its most severe bird flu outbreak in the past decade. More than 2,300 people employed at poultry farms across nine counties are being monitored.

More than 400,000 poultry have been culled since the H5 strain of bird flu struck two weeks ago. Taiwan also reported the death of a 2-year-old-boy caused by H3N2 on Friday. Health authorities are examining the possibility of a mutation of the virus.
