Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the "One Belt, One Road" initiative in 2013 as a development plan to promote foreign trade. The plan that aims to link China with the rest of Asia, Europe and Africa has drawn significant attention during the two sessions.

CPPCC member Chan King-wai, president of Hong Kong's China Chamber of Commerce, says the city of Hong Kong and overseas Chinese citizens can play important roles in this plan.

"Hong Kong should play its part in this plan. When Chinese companies invest overseas, they can always rely on the quality of our experts. Those experts with global perspectives can help Chinese companies avoid many mistakes. They can also look to overseas Chinese associations found in countries included in the plan because they know well the local political-economic situations, as well as laws and regulations." Said Chan King-wai.
