S. Korea-US drill: 7,600 personnel participate in landing exercise

03-30-2015 14:40 BJT

The US and South Korea have held a joint military exercise near the South Korean city of Pohang. 76 hundred personnel from the two countries took part in a landing exercise.

They included Marine and Navy forces. Around 30 Naval vessels took part, including amphibious assault ships from both navies. The landing drill is part of the annual South Korea-US "Foal Eagle" joint exercises.

The DPRK has regularly criticised it as a preparation for a northward invasion. The DPRK has said it's willing to impose a temporary moratorium on its nuclear tests if Washington cancels the joint drills with South Korea, an offer rejected by the US.
